Bah!

I’m putting up a temporary “closed” sign for this blog. I’ve come down with a bug, and just want to sleep. So off I go to wallow in self-pity.

Monday

A day in the clouds. Started with acupuncture, followed by a meditation, followed by reading a book, followed by making turkey stock, followed by a nap. Feel a bit zoned out. Regardless. Went for a walk with hubby through the ‘hood this evening, and now I’m just trying to stay awake for my volunteer shift…

Sunday in Edmonton

It’s grey and dusty here, and I’m a bit grumpy to be an Albertan. I’m mad at my new Time Machine because it’s not as intuitive as the other Apple pieces I own. Onto happier news, we went to Ikea (a 20 minute journey that probably cost $5.00 is gasoline) to buy a new $2.00…

Last Day in YYJ

It’s pouring rain this morning here in Victoria, and we are still determined to get our dose of the gardens in before we come home. Michael and I are undeterred by rain… we have proper clothing and our brollies, so we should get a good last walk in before we go. Writing in advance of…

Hiking Climbing and Other Stuff

We found a great walking path yesterday, that took us to the top of a smallish mountain. Wonderful views, but of course I didn’t have my camera to document. We then zipped off to the “Centre of the Universe” which was closed, but this time I did have my camera! We went to the Butchart…

Cider Beer and Sake

We lollygagged so long in the morning, the housekeeping staff phoned us to see if were getting out to allow them in to do their thing. Nice people our housekeeping staff, except they seem to miss emptying one garbage can each visit. Perhaps it’s their “green” effort. Pressured then, to do something, we went to the…

Chemainus

On Tuesday, we drove the long way to Chemainus from the Saanich peninsula. It was a very nice drive, I must say. There wasn’t that much in the way of traffic, the highway was fully functional, the weather good. Michael and I had been to Chemainus about two decades ago, and our memory of it…

Puttering on the Peninsula

Being holiday Monday yesterday, we decided to stick to the peninsula for the day. We started with a walk through the gardens, followed by a nice lunch and tea. After that, we strolled through Sidney and spent a bit of time looking at chocolate at Rogers, books at Tanners, and incense at some new age…

Royal Victoria Marathon and Two Sisters

Yesterday was the Royal Victoria Marathon. I’ve never had much interest in these before, but I might have changed my mind yesterday. The enthusiasm of the crowd is amazing. The determination of the runners inspiring! The weather was beautiful too. It was a treat to be part of this event, because unlike the summer months,…

Saanich Peninsula

Here we are in gorgeous BC. My favourite place to walk in the world! We went through the Butchart Gardens, met a lovely and interesting threesome at the new carousel and had a big chin wag while we watched the squirrels and crows drop walnuts on the ground to crack them open. After dinner we…
