One of the problems of having to share a kitchen, is having two people put things away in the cupboards. I am blessed to have a husband who likes things tidy and neat. I tend to leave things on the counter, so I know what I have and where they are. But Mr. Neat-and-Tidy swoops in, unbeknown to me, and puts things away, and then I forget I had them in the first place.
This brings me back to my peanut satay. This morning, rummaging through the cupboard, in behind the peanut butter, honey and spices, is my can of coconut milk! A key ingredient to my satay that was omitted. Those of you who read that post probably tut-tutted and thought, “Poor girl, a peanut satay without coconut milk!!!”. Well, it wasn’t half bad in the end, but the coconut milk would have made it near perfect.
And for those of you who are fans of my husband, I will share with you his egg conquest! Yesterday Michael cooked up his first omelet ever!! Although I am thrilled for his new found independence, and was in fact the one encouraging him to “do it yourself” I felt momentarily worried that this new skill would mean he wouldn’t rely on me anymore to cook him breakfast. Thankfully, he still needs me for pancakes, waffles and French toast…. for now!
I would like to point out that the coconut milk was in fact put in the cupboard by Catherine herself!!!
Uh oh. Aaaaabsent minded!
