Picnic!!!!!!!!

It’s 30C outside. It’s September 8. Winter’s-a-coming!!

It’s been a not-so-great summer, but it’s here. Right now. Talked to a decidedly “weird” husband today who seemed to bouncing off the walls, and thought, “Lawn bowling, or anywhere public  where he has to deal with people in close quarters is NOT the right thing to do to a man who repeats the words Steak-and-Kidney-Pie 10 times during a phone conversation, with no context. The conversation went like this:

Me: Do you want to go shoe shopping tonight?

Michael: Fzzzzzzzz.

Me:  Michael?

Michael: Steak and kidney pie.

Me: What?

Michael: Fzzzzzzz.

Me: What are you doing?

Michael: Spinning in my chair.

Me: Do you want to go shoe shopping?

Michael: IthoughtIwouldgolawnbowlingImightgoshoeshoppingsteakandkidneypiefzzzzzzzzz.

Me:  *sigh*

That’s the Reader’s Digest version. Anyhow, we hung up agreeing that shoe shopping it is.

But! But, as I left my workplace downtown, the 30C heat went straight to my head and I thought, “There is no well in hell I’m going to be spending anytime this evening indoors. We need to go on a picnic”.

So unbeknownest to my beloved, I have made potato salad and fried some chicken, found an old blanket, made a few beverages, and we’re off! We’re off for a picnic!!!

In my head, I have it that we’ll go out to Elk Island Park. But more importantly, I am hoping that all the cooling and refrigeration techniques I’ve ever learned in home economics will be successful, because as we all know, potato salad and chicken are particularly delicate in this hot weather.

Stay tuned. If I remember to pack the camera, I’ll take a pic of our destination tonight.

… Later ….  Here’s a picture of our sunset at Elk Island:
