Good Times. Good Times.

After sitting for an hour in the dark in my hotel room to participate in Earth Hour, I spent some time looking at high school pictures and listening to 80’s music on the old laptop. I’ve become nostalgic. This post is your fault Peter Martin. And before you ask, I’ve been drinking buckets of tea. Black tea. Peppermint tea. Green ginger tea. No alcohol. Need my body to detox. However, with all this nostalgia, the urge to drink gin and tonics under a black light with throbbing 80’s music, wearing a fluorescent pink shirt with lime green belt and climbing up on a speaker to dance dance dance is becoming a real possibility.

But let me share the memories with you all. Here’s me from 1985:

And here’s the anthems of my youth:

Oh Yeah – Yello – Stella
Laid Back – White Horse
Paranormia – Art of Noise (Feat Max Headroom)
Small Town Boy – Bronski Beat   (You should see me hit those high notes while I’m lip syncing)
You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) – Dead or Alive
Relax – Frankie Goes to Hollywood

Those were the days. I’ll go tweeze off my chin hair, take some Tylenol Arthritis formula for my knee, and go to bed.

  1. Ha ha! I spent Earth Hour playing cribbage by candlelight. I won both games, I'm pleased to say. My youth is even more in the past than yours.

  2. Beautiful trip back… but I was married and divorsed with two babies then, me thinks… assuming that is you HS grad photo. Mine was in 1973… ahhhh, yes… those WERE the days. I am still there, though here… at all times. Married, divorced, and momsey to two lovelies at 25. That was a road. But, we were three for many years… all valiant women now, I say modestly… and then, over 10 years ago now, I found this treasure of a man. What fun life is!In-DA-GADDA-DA-VIDA Baby!

Ah yes Cath…when we were young. The foodie articles are spectacular. Keep up the good work. And a little Bronski Beat (or Jimmy Sommerville after he left) with a nice merlot is sexy cooking music!! Hubba hubba…Peter
