Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians here and abroad! It’s a great day to be Canadian, and know this little bit (downpour) of rain, thunder and lightening will pass and not dampen our spirits here in Edmonton.
We have bought our Canadian flag, and as soon as we can figure out a way to attach it to our balcony railing without getting zapped by lightening or getting wet, we’ll be one of dozens of balcony’s facing the river valley showing our true patriot love.
Michael and I usually hit the Legislative grounds for the festivities, but this year, with the Euro Cup final, we’ll be hitting Devaney’s pub to watch the Euro Cup final between Spain and Italy. Mom and Ed are joining us because just this year have become fans of the beautiful game!
Yesterday we had a food blogger day on the patio at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. It was a beautiful day, and we were treated with typical Fairmont hospitality – pleasant and efficient. The food was delicious, but I ate it before thinking of taking a picture to share with you.
June 30 was and is Social Media day, so our timing was perfect. What is Social Media Day? “Social Media Day is an annual global event on June 30 that recognizes the digital revolution happening right before our eyes.”
Here’s the happy gang. Left to right, you have Michael of no set @, yours truly @walshcooks, the friendly social face of @FairmontMAC, Michelle of Food, Football and a Baby , Marianne of Loosen Your Belt, and Laurel aka Edmonton’s notorious Tweeter @habanerogal. Quality photo taken by the charming Michael of Shandro Photo.
Happy Canada Day to you, too 🙂 I just realized this is my first Canada Day as a Canadian citizen. I was not planing on celebrating, but now that I realized this, maybe I’m going to bake something tasty for myself 😉
Happy Canada Day! Are you cheering for Spain or Italy in the Euro Cup?
Happy Canada Day! Love the pic! Was totally planning to come, and then the Cheezepalooza meeting went too long… I have never heard of Social Media Day – nice to learn something new.
Hope you had a drink for me. And, thank you for letting me know about it!
🙂

Happy Canada day to you and Michael! I hope the crazies leave you alone and/or give you a good laugh. Great seeing you yesterday. Looking forward to more drinks and patios soonish!
Happy Canada Day to you and Michael… hope there were no nutters on your street or apartments today 🙂 Loved meeting both of you (you for the second time), and Michael is such a sweetie, hope he didn’t mind us teasing him!! I can’t wait for Round 2. Hugs!!!
Yay! Congratulations! Did you end up baking anything to celebrate?
I was cheering for Italy 😦
